In addition to trail riding, the area provides a range of activities for all the family.

Our unique location in the Foothills of the Rockies offers rarely seen diversity of terrain and scenery for mountain bikers. It boasts superb mountain biking and hiking opportunities. With the proximity of Mesa Butte Mountain and Curley Sand Ridge, Hog’s back, Threepoint Creek; the upcountry of Kananaskis Area you’ll never run out of interesting terrain to explore.


Includes hiking, bird watching, wild flower walks, star gazing, orienteering with a compass, casting animal tracks and more.


Square Butte Ranch offers access to terrific fishing for a variety of rainbow, brown brook, cutthroat, bull and lake trout. Right at our back yard where the whole family can enjoy the adventures they love – fishing, horseback riding, and lots of outdoor activities.

ATV / Motor Bikes

Direct off road access via the West pasture, offers enthusiasts an opportunity to explore more than 200 square kilometers in McLean Creek Off Highway Vehicle Public Land Use Zone.

Ice Skating on the Pond

Each winter as the temperature dips down and snow covers most of the ranch, the community comes together to clear off the pond for some ‘Good old fashion Canadian pond hockey”. Additional skating trails are cleared for the families and kids, including a fire pit and benches to warm up around.


Snowshoeing / Cross country skiing

Trails are cleared for cross country skiing and snowshoeing around the ranch common property.
